#905-1 Kundt's Apparatus.
This unit is used to measure the ratio of the velocity of sound in brass to that of air.  A brass rod is rubbed with a bow which causes the rod to vibrate.  Sound waves inside the tube cause lycopodium powder to accumulate at nodal points.  By measuring the spacing between the nodal points and comparing this value with the length of the brass rod, the ratio between the speed of sound in brass is obtained.  Instructions provided.

OPTICAL BENCHES
#1404-20  Compact Optical Bench.
This unique optical bench is completely self contained and extremely compact!  The anodized aluminum channel opens up to form a long two meter bench, allowing testing of longer than usual focal length lenses.  This bench can also be used as two individual one meter optical benches.  The exclusive design of the lens holders allows instant changing of lenses and accessories without fussing with clips or screws and the holders slide smoothly along grooves molded within the case.  Everything except the light source folds up quickly into a package of slightly over 1/2 inch thick and can be set up in under one minute!  Comes complete with two aluminum benches, six different 38mm lenses, two optical screens, two object markers, four lens holders, one mini flashlight with clips and one mini candle which are your light sources.  Instructions are provided.

#1113 Radiometer.
The wings in the radiometer are alternately dark and light.  When the light strikes the wings, it transfers heat to each one, but not at the same degree.  The light wings reflect the ray and the dark wings absorb the rays.  As the light gets brighter it creates more heat and spins the wings faster.

#1806 Resonance Tube Apparatus, Vertical.
Used to measure the velocity of sound in air.  The resonance tube consists of a water reservoir, and glass resonance tube marked in increments of 1mm, a support stand and two clamps to hold the tube in position.  Instructions provided.

#1807 Resonance Tube Apparatus, Horizontal.
A graduated glass tube is mounted on a pair of wooden bases.  A brass rod and piston moving inside the tube can vary the resonant length from 30cm to 98cm.  The tube is 4cm dia. x 100cm long so that resonant points for a 512 vps tuning fork may be obtained for 1/4 x 3/4 and 5/4 wavelengths. Instructions included.
